Angular Flow

This piece combines different functionalities into one. Storage meets seating, and together they create a place to take a small break.

The given task for this project was to combine the two specifications “sense“ and “functionality.“

My design is based on an ordinary square cube. One side of the cube is seen as its linear outer contour and the other as the whole volume, as a solid body. By creating the two opposite shapes, and using this duality, the seat of the chair and the storage compartment on the opposite side create a dynamic contrast whilst simultaneously remaining functional.

The contrast underlines the lightness of the line and the severity of the volume. To emphasise this juxtaposition, the two shapes are painted in two different colours. The fully developed design has a multifunctional character and would be suitable for multiple spaces.
